Georgina Luxton

Georgina McDougall Luxton by W.R. Round

In 1934, Georgie was made a blood sister and honorary princess of the Stoney tribe. She was given the name “Rainbow Woman” because she always brought peace after the storm. “As the rainbow ends the storm so have you stood between the storms in the Indian women’s lives.”
Georgina responded in Stoney that she would share with them their joys and sorrows as in the past and expressed sentiments of great appreciation to her blood sisters for the magnificent costume they had made for her, and that her new allegiance to the tribe would strengthen the bond of friendship which had always existed between them.
