Research and Collections

  • Properties
Three historic homes owned by the Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation are located on Beaver Street in Banff – one of Banff’s earliest residential streets.

  • Archives
A major component of the Luxton legacy is the extensive collection of archival material collected over a life-time by Eleanor Luxton and left for posterity when she passed away in 1995.

  • Artifacts
The Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation collection of artifacts reflects the lifestyle, personal tastes and interests of Eleanor and her parents, Norman and Georgina Luxton.

  • Art
The art in the collection depicts locations, wildlife and individuals from the Banff area.

  • Books
The book collection includes the classics, topics specific to the locale, and reflects family interests and personal tastes.

  • Exhibitions
The opening of the exhibition The Stuff of Legend fulfills a long-held dream of the board of the Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation. The result is the story of one of the area’s earliest and arguably most interesting pioneer families, which opens April 27, 2008 at the Whyte Museum.
